Tales in Time & Space – Where the Audience Becomes Part of the Story
The Storyteller invites you to a world where anything can happen and where the audience is part of the decision-making. Behind the concept sagor i tid & otid (tales in time & space) is the actor Jean-Pierre Salkvist, who for over a decade has captivated spectators across Sweden with his vivid storytelling art.
Concept & Execution – The Audience as Co-Creators
With roots in the classical, oral storytelling tradition, Jean-Pierre creates interactive performances where stories emerge in the moment. Here, nothing is read from a book. Instead, the tales are portrayed freely with body, voice, and imagination. It is in the meeting between storyteller and audience that the story comes alive, and listeners become an active part of the experience itself.
Repertoire & Target Groups – For Every Ear
The Storyteller has a wide range of stories and always adapts the content to his audience.
- Kids & Family: Age-appropriate stories filled with humor, suspense, and imagination that engage the little ones.
- Schools & Creative Projects: Educational programs that combine theater with oral storytelling to strengthen students’ desire to read and joy of storytelling.
- Adults & Seniors: Sets like “Timeless tales for adult ears,” where the wisdom of the classic folk tale awakens old memories and invites conversation.
Format & Flexibility – A Mobile Performance
One of the greatest strengths of The Storyteller is flexibility. The performance is completely mobile and requires no large stage or advanced technology. A gathered audience and space for imagination are enough. This makes it easy to book the concept for everything from intimate gatherings to larger events, both indoors and outdoors.
Track Record – Over a Decade of Tales
Jean-Pierre has performed as The Storyteller for over ten years and has during that time gathered solid experience from a variety of stages. He has, among other things, performed at:
- Libraries and cultural centers across the country
- Historical environments and homesteads
- Festivals and markets
- Schools and preschools
Atmosphere – Presence and Community
It is the immediate presence that makes The Storyteller’s appearances special. By breaking the fourth wall, a warm and inviting atmosphere is created where everyone feels involved. Whether it is tense anticipation, bursts of laughter, or quiet reflection, the audience leaves the performance with a sense of community and is reminded of the strong and timeless power of the folk tale.
